Tretinoin

Tretinoin is a prescription retinoid derived from Vitamin A, commonly used to treat acne, fine lines, skin texture, and pigmentation.

Tretinoin improves the signs of skin ageing by stimulating collagen production, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and improving skin texture and tone.
For acne, it prevents the formation of comedones by keeping pores clear and reducing inflammation, thereby decreasing acne breakouts and promoting clearer skin. It tackles dark marks by accelerating the shedding of pigmented skin cells and promoting the growth of new, evenly pigmented cells.

• Skin Texture Improvement: Smooths rough skin and evens out skin tone.
• Hyperpigmentation: Reduces the appearance of dark marks.

This depends on the skin goals and the individual. Improvements may be seen within 4 weeks but significant results typically appearing after 12 weeks of use. Purging (a worsening of acne) may occur in the first 4-8 weeks of tretinoin use and side effects such as peeling and redness are more common in the few weeks.

Common side effects include redness, peeling, dryness, and increased sensitivity to sunlight. It is imperative to use a high factor SpF.
